Privacy Policy

This Privacy Statement describes Rhedesium’s information collection, use, and disclosure practices.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will always be showcased on this page. Your continued use of Rhedesium constitutes your agreement with the existing and updated policies.

Information Collected by Rhedesium

Rhedesium is a database of publicly available information sources aggregated for User convenience. Through Rhedesium, Users can access certain materials posted to or made available through the Website as compiled, distributed, and displayed by Rhedesium and other third-party content providers ("Third-Party Providers"). These materials that can be searched for and accessed through the Website (“Rhedesium”) include but are not limited to, third-party websites or services that provide information about individuals ("Search Subjects").

Rhedesium gathers three types of information: information that Users submit to us, User information that is collected automatically about Website usage, and information about Search Subjects.

Information You Submit to Rhedesium

We collect information that Users provide when they use the Website. This can include but is not limited to instances when a User submits an online application to become a Rhedesium member ("Member"), which enables the User to utilize a host of services made available to Members by and through the Website ("Member Services"); when a User submits a request to opt out of Rhedesium’s People Search results; when a User submits a request for a Memorial Change to Rhedesium’s People Search results; when a User conducts a Rhedesium Search; or when a User contacts Rhedesium with a question, comment, or request. This can include, but is not limited to, the User’s (a) e-mail address; (b) full name; (c) company name; (d) date of birth; (e) password; (f) mailing address; (g) credit card information; and (h) information associated with a Search Subject (such as a name, age, or address) that Users utilize to conduct a Rhedesium Search.

Information Collected Automatically About Your Website Usage

Similar to most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data. We may combine this automatically collected log information with other User data we have collected. We do this to improve the services we offer Users, as well as to enhance marketing, analytics, or site functionality.

When a User visits the Website, Rhedesium or third-party service providers may use "Cookies" (small, text-only files that we save to a User’s hard drive) or similar technologies to automatically collect and store non-personally-identifiable information about a User' usage of the Website, such as a User'a IP address, browser type, links and items they click on, ad impressions on their web browser, and the web pages they visit. Cookies enhance User experience on the Website and are necessary for the provision of Member Services. For example, we use Cookies to store User passwords so that Users do not have to re-enter them multiple times, as well as to recognize a User if they revisit the Website using the same web browser.

If a User does not want the Website to collect this information through Cookies, they may configure their web browser to reject Website Cookies or to inform the User when a Cookie has been sent to their computer, providing them with the opportunity to refuse that Cookie. Each web browser is different, so please check the browser's "Help" menu to learn how to change User Cookie preferences. Be advised that Users who disable or reject Cookies may not be able to use the Member Services or experience the full Website functionality.

Rhedesium and its partners (involved in marketing, data, analytics, financial, testing, optimization, and so on), affiliates, analytics, or service providers (such as data providers, customer support, marketing, analytics, business development, affiliate, and other) use cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts. These technologies are implemented in analyzing trends, administering the Website, tracking User movements around the Website, and gathering demographic information about the Rhedesium User base as a whole. We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by affiliated companies on an individual or aggregated basis.

Behavioral Targeting / Re-Targeting

We partner with a third-party ad network to either display advertisements on the Rhedesium Website or to manage advertising materials on other sites. Rhedesium ad network partners use cookies and Web beacons to collect non-personal information about User activities on this and other websites to provide targeted advertising based on User interests. If a User wishes not to have this information used for the purpose of serving targeted ads, they may opt out by clicking here. Please note that this does not mean that the User will not be seeing ads altogether. Instead, they will be generic rather than targeted.

Information About Search Subjects

In order to facilitate the Rhedesium Search function, we collect information about Search Subjects from third-party data providers.

This may include linking User Member account information with the information collected through Cookies for such purposes as identifying what areas of the Website are most relevant to a specific User and allowing Rhedesium to better tailor the Website and communications to User interests.

When a User submits a request to opt out of Rhedesium's People Search results, we require the User to provide an email address. Rhedesium will only use this email address to (i) send the User an email to verify the User’s request to opt out, (ii) communicate with the User regarding the questions they may ask about their opt-out status, and (iii) if the User chooses, to create a Rhedesium Opt-Out account to review the record(s) the User has opted out from on an ongoing basis. We will not sell the email address that the User provides as part of the opt-out process or use it for any other purpose without the User's prior consent.

These affiliates and service providers will have access to User information to perform their functions on behalf of Rhedesium. However, we do not permit them to use User information for other purposes. In addition, apart from the circumstances described above, we will not share the Users’ credit card information with any third parties without the User’s prior informed consent. However, notwithstanding the foregoing, we reserve the right to share the fact that we have User credit card information on file with third parties;

We will not share Search Subject information for any other purpose;
  • With any third party to send User-selected marketing offers, excluding any Sensitive Information (including the credit card number and financial account number). • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Users or others (e.g., by exchanging data with other companies and organizations for fraud protection purposes, by providing information to law enforcement entities when we believe the Website is being or has been used to commit unlawful acts).

We do not share precise geolocation information (such as that collected from User mobile devices) with third parties unless the User expressly consents to it.

In addition, we may share aggregate reports with third parties, comprised of the demographics, usage, and/or other characteristics of Rhedesium Visitors as a group, which will never identify any User personally.

Correcting, Updating, or Removing Member Information

The User’s continued use of or access to the Website or any Member Services after any posted amendment or revision to this Privacy Policy or receipt of a Privacy Policy change notification email constitutes an affirmative acknowledgment and acceptance of the amended or modified Privacy Policy.

We aim to keep all information that we collect from or about Users protected both online and offline. Unfortunately, no data security system or transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect Users’ personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information transmitted to us, which is why Users do it at their own risk.

Marketing Opt-Out

Users receiving marketing emails sent by Rhedesium or third-party advertisers may unsubscribe from such communications at any time by following the instructions specified at the end of each e-mail. We may have separate email lists for different purposes, so Users may need to unsubscribe from multiple lists. However, even when a User unsubscribes from all Rhedesium and third-party advertisers' lists, they may receive marketing emails in the future if they opt into a different email marketing program. However, a User can also always unsubscribe from such programs by following the instructions specified at the end of any e-mail they receive.
